Follow local, independent journalists and news outlets. The Copper Courier, the AZ Mirror, and the Phoenix New Times are great examples. Local independent sources will tell the full, truthful story about local events.
Sign up for our newsletter to receive weekly updates on actions in the East Valley. Protests, know-your-rights information distributions, city council meetings, community events, etc. are all included. AZ Advocacy Hub is another great resource. Their weekly Substack includes pro-democracy events across the state (but mostly in the Phoenix metro area).
Some things are moving too quickly now to be in a weekly newsletter. For example, when Renee Good was murdered, there were protests and vigils the same day. There are two main ways to stay updated on these immediate responses. The first way is to follow us on social media. Most organizations are on Instagram, and it's also the platform that tends to move the most quickly, but we are also on the platforms below:
Second is to join Signal chats that consist of the members of organizations. These chats are the quickest way to stay updated on anything, and move very quickly. To join our chat, first download Signal on your phone and/or desktop. Signal is end-to-end encrypted and we need to keep chats secure, so email us at info@eastvalleyunite.org and we will connect with you.
Join our team to help organize events, do outreach, and overall spend more time on this and be more involved in the movement. This requires a significant time commitment.
